Afoot and Afield Companion Site

Thanks to a glitch in transfering domains that I was unable to resolve in time for the release of Afoot and Afield San Diego County, the domain name “Scottturnerhikes.com” that you found cited in the book is still connecting to my old blog, 1000Miles.

Here’s a link to the website, which will soon be connected to the proper domain name.

  1. Hey Scott – I’m a San Diego resident who owns and flies a helicopter as a hobby. I routinely fly folks from the San Diego River Park Foundation up and down the length of the river, and I’ve flown San Diego County people around the area looking at potential trail sites. I don’t charge anything; helicopter flying is just my favorite thing to do. I sent an email to Jerry Schad just before he died, offering to take him flying to take pictures or explore hiking trails. At the time, however, and unbeknownst to me, he was really sick, so I never heard back. Now that you’ve taken on the “Foot and Afield” mantle, I’d like to make the same offer to you. Just shoot me an email, and we can arrange a convenient time to fly. I’m based at Montgomery Field in Kearny Mesa. Here’s a link to a video I helped produce relating to the San Diego River: https://vimeo.com/98086493. Cheers. John
